The Dane County chapter is involved in many and various programs of humanitarian, educational or advocacy orientations.
We also invite you to attend our
chapter meetings and special events.
A residue of war has been fields of mines in many countries. The Dane County Chapter has taken on a task of raising funds to help citizens of Mozambique eliminate the more than 1,000,000 mines remaining after 30 years of conflict. Many interested parties have been contributing to this project. The Returned Peace Corps Volunteers have made a major contribution. We will be collecting funds until UN Day in October and then sending these to be put with others to make a difference.

Model UN
UNA-USA Dane County supports Model UN groups in local high schools and colleges. With financial assistance from the Downtown Kiwanis we were able to provide inservice programming for teachers interested in establishing Model UN groups in their schools. Through its Fund for the Future the Chapter has made modest grants to Model UN groups to help with travel to Model UN conferences.
More information on these activities is available from the Chairperson of the Education Committee, David Piovanetti. Email:

Global Affairs Forums
At each election cycle the Dane County Chapter has been the lead organizer of Global Affairs Forums featuring candidates for national office. Candidates have an opportunity, as they rarely do in other public appearances to inform voters on their positions on international issues that face our nation.
Joining us in the past are a variety of other civic organizations such as the American Association of University Women, the Dane County Chapter of the League of Women Voters, the World Federalist Association, Dane County Chapter, the Wisconsin Association of Newspapers, and the Evjue Foundation.
Saving Children's Lives
Founded in 1947, the
U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports the work of the United Nations Children's Fund by raising funds for its programs and increasing awareness of the challenges facing the world's children. The oldest of 37 national committees for UNICEF worldwide, we are part of a global effort to save, protect and improve children's lives.
